Finding Comfort in This Season of Life

Are you soaking in, relishing, cherishing, celebrating, and appreciating this year/season of life?  Or are you always looking toward the next moment, the next month, the next event, rarely allowing yourself the privilege of fully participating and embracing the happenings that are before you for today?

I am currently reading one of Priscilla Shirer's books, The Resolution for Women, and I am challenged by the questions above.  Each season, each moment, I seem to be looking towards what is next and not fully embracing the current season of life.  When I am faced with challenges, I am forced to live and struggle through them; however, I rarely cherish, celebrate, and appreciate the good.

As my next birthday eases closer, my goal is to FULLY enjoy this season of life, this year of life.  I want to soak in and appreciate this season/year of life; finding comfort in both the challenges and celebrations.

Fly

Check out Elizabeth's post on Paula Rinehart's book Better Than My Dreams:

"God has designed the universe so as to push us out of our comfort zones. We have to step off the side of the nest and fly, even if it feels like a free fall for a while. That naked place of risky newness is the only place we learn to trust him. As the Lord shares through the pen of Isaiah:

"I will lead the blind by a way they do not know,
In paths they do not know I will guide them
I will make darkness into light before them
And rugged places into plains
These are the things I will do,
And I will not leave them undone."
Isaiah 42:16

Thought:  there is a bell curve with comfort on one end and extreme discomfort on the other.  Just like many other things, the middle ground seems to be the best.  However it is important to wax and wane back and forth between being slightly out of your comfort zone (to grow) and then moving back into that comfort zone (to rest).

All this being said, I just attended a speaking engagement about a variety of topics, one being brain development.  The speaker noted that when you get out of that 'comfort zone' just a little your brain begins to grow and you learn so much more (especially when you make mistakes).  So, try to get out of your comfort zone just a little today!

I crave comfort.
Whether it is in the form of food, relationships, time, job, money, etc. - I just want to be 'comfortable.' Is this what we are ultimately called to - comfort? What is comfort? Why do we long for it? How can we truly find it? These are the questions to be addressed on www.cravecomfort.blogspot.com.
